Sarah is a warm and empathetic clinical psychologist, experienced with various presentations for children/adolescents and their families, as well as adults. Since completing her Doctoral studies, she has focused her clinical work in eating disorders as her main area of passion and interest.
Sarah is highly experienced in Family-based Treatment for anorexia nervosa, from her work in the Eating Disorder Service at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and the Redleaf Practice in Wahroonga. She also enjoys working in a family therapy model for young people with bulimia nervosa and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder. She previously worked with adolescents with acute and chronic illnesses and complex psychosocial issues through her roles within the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.
Sarah’s individual work with adults includes CBT-E for patients with eating disorders, and she developed and facilitated group sessions for young adult inpatients with depression and anxiety at the Northside Clinic. Sarah currently works part-time in the Eating Disorder Service inpatient team at the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, supporting young people and families through inpatient care and preparing them for outpatient treatment.
Qualifications and memberships:
Sarah completed her Doctor of Clinical Psychology/Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Sydney, and her PhD examined compulsive exercise in adults with anorexia nervosa. She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at national and international eating disorder conferences. She is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED), a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Eating Disorders. She is a Board-approved supervisor for clinical psychologists and clinical psychology registrars. Sarah completed a Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Honours) at the University of Sydney, with first class Honours in psychology. She worked as a school counsellor before commencing her postgraduate studies.
